The Epson SX115 has a great spec and a great price tag too, but a cheap price tag on an inkjet printer doesn’t always mean that it’s going to be cheap to run on replacement printer ink cartridges. Normally printer is this price range use two separate cartridges, one for black and one for colour buy Epson SX115 ink cartridges are different they consists of four separate cartridges, one for each colour. The advantage of this is that when one of the colours runs out only that cartridge gets changed and the other colours remain and no ink gets wasted. A set of genuine Epson ink cartridges for the SX115 costs around £30 when bought in a multi-pack which is reasonable when compares to other printers in this price bracket. In terms of functionality the SX115 offers a good range of features including PC-free printing from memory cards and digital cameras although choosing which photo to print can be tricky because there is no LCD screen to guide you. Another feature of the SX115 that works PC-free is the copier which performs well but is a little limited because it can only make up to nine copies at a one time. The A4 flat bed scanner work well for scanning of a variety of documents from a basic drawing or text document right through to a photo print. It also comes with software for photo editing. The SX115 strongest and weakest features both involve printing, it strongest feature is its print quality which is flawless and can’t be faulted. The weakest point of the SX115 is the speed in which is prints is very slow even for a budget inkjet printer, but it only that its slow is the fact that Epson claim it is capable of 34ppm (pages per minute) which is a ridiculous claim and it hard to understand what they were thinking of stating that on the official spec. Despite this the SX115 still remains a good value for money multifunction printer compared to it competitors.
